- Use by Greatworth Primary School for curricular and extra-curricular activities
- Use by Greatworth Pre-School
- Use by community organisations
- Occasional excursions to cultural and sporting events
Regular Services
School Use
Greatworth Primary School have indicated their regular requirements during the school terms. These include:
- Monday Afternoon – Curriculum sports activities
- Tuesday Morning – School farm visit
- Tuesday Afternoon – Extra-Curricular visit to the Forest School
- Thursday Morning – Extra-Curricular visit to partner special school
- Thursday Late Afternoon – Extra-Curricular sporting events
Community Organisations
Community organisations can book the minibus for their outings provided certain conditions are met and the minibus is available. The organiser must contact the Booking Clerk to make a provisional booking. Once this is confirmed, the organiser must provide the names of all the passengers, and they must be members of the GCTA Travel Club. They must provide details of their destination and whether they will provide their own driver or require a volunteer driver. If providing their own driver, the driver must be approved by GCTA and be suitable trained in driving a minibus..
Excursions
Once the other services settle down and we have the administrators and most of the drivers trained, we will look to expand the services to include excursions. These may be social trips or visits to places of interest such as:
- Places of interest e.g. National Trust properties
- Visits to larger towns or cities
- Visits to the cinema or theatre
- Visits to sporting or cultural events
These will be advertised on this website and in the Glimpse of Greatworth
How Donations are used
GCTA is a “not-for-profit” organisation which means that all income received is reinvested into the services provided and used for the benefit of the community. Whilst we have grant funding for the major expenditure, there will inevitably be some unexpected costs that are not in the budget. Therefore, we are asking passengers to make a voluntary donation each time they take a journey in the minibus. The emphasis is on “Voluntary”, and the amount can be as little as you like. We are here to provide the services and hope that you will support us. Any surpluses gained during the grant funding period of 3 years will be used to help us to continue the services on a self-funding basis.
All the trustees, administrators and drivers are volunteers, and they are providing their time free of charge. The services are provided by the community for the community and we hope to continue as long as it is financially viable.
